The Beautiful Persists: Ellie and Jiva
Ellie and Jiva are amazing and two of my favourite people to photograph. I met them a few years ago by chance on Navarino Rd in the rain when Jiva was a baby. My friend Sylva is also someone I love to hang out with and photograph- I met her by chance too on the other side of London. A couple of years ago I went to see Sylva play at the Spitz and bumped into Ellie there. It turns out Sylva and Ellie know each other from when they were kids growing up outside London. I like these kind of coincidences a lot.

Channelling Capote
Capote stayed in this motel for several months in 1959-1960 but no one seemed to be able to tell me in which room. The portrait of him that used to hang in the foyer was stolen a few years ago. In the absence of concrete information I imagined him in this room, sitting at this table for two with Nelle Harper Lee.

Young Gun- Jethro Cave for Blown Magazine
A few months ago I photographed Jethro Cave for a new magazine called Blown which has just come out. I collaborated with stylist Susie Lloyd and we had a lot of fun on the shoot watching this snake hipped enigma come to life in front of the lens. Susie had brought a crown of twigs and leaves and we dressed him in white- he looked so iconic that we called the story My Personal Jesus.
Here are some polaroids of Jethro as he arrived and just before he left in his own clothes. Coincidentally my friend Jethro came to visit the studio that day and as Jethro jnr had never met someone with the same name I took a picture of the Jethros together.
